For 2010 the Dodge Journey has arrived with a host of new standard features including active head restraints, tinted sunscreen glass and leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls across all models.
“The Dodge brand was one of the few brands to finish in the black last year. This year the brand will again play an important role with key models such as Nitro, Journey and the soon to be updated Caliber,” said Gerry Jenkins, Managing Director, Chrysler Australia.
The Dodge Journey redefines the expanding segment, offering safety and security and cargo flexibility. Add in its youthful, sporty look, innovative features and excellent fuel-efficiency, and Dodge Journey gives customers the complete value package.
Powertrain
Dodge Journey features two engine and transmission combinations that meet the needs of a diverse group of buyers. These include an efficient 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine and petrol 2.7-litre V6 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Dodge Journey SXT and R/T come with a 2.7-litre V-6 engine as standard. The 2.7-litre engine comes coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, and the engine produces 136 kW and 256 Nm of torque. The 2.7-litre petrol engine delivers useful performance and a combined fuel consumption rating of 10.3 L/100km.
The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine is available on the Dodge Journey R/T and positions the Journey competitively in its class for power, torque, acceleration and fuel economy. Maximum power is 103 kW and peak torque is 310 Nm. The 2.0-litre engine now achieves a combined fuel consumption rating of 6.7 L/100km with the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Safety
The Dodge Journey incorporates a two-fold approach to safety: passive features, including pre-tensioning seat-belt retractors, supplemental side-curtain air bags and standard torso air bags, combined with accident-avoidance features, including standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
Standard safety equipment on the 2010 Dodge Journey includes ESC with traction control, Brake Assist and ABS, driver and front-passenger active head restraints, front seat-mounted side airbags and advanced multi-stage front airbags.
